Signiticance
Age-related macular degeneration can lead to profound central visual loss.
Differential diagnosis
Genetic macular diseases such as Sorsby dystrophy and Stargardt disease.
Consider also Intraretinal processes such
as intraretinal lipid (exudates), retinal emboli and cotton-wool spots (infarcts).
